Appen usually pays on a per hour basis. It depends on your job profile, that is, whether you are a search engine evaluator or a data collector etc. Also important are your country of residence and your date of joining Appen.

While a data collector can hope to earn as much as $30 per hour in a first world country and a search engine evaluator can expect anywhere between $9 to $13 per hour, it may be lower in certain other parts of the world. However the pay rates at Appen as a policy are always higher than the minimum wages of the country of residence of the Rater who has to be paid.

Also after Appen acquired Leapforce, the pay rates have been changed. Hence the old raters in the same country of residence may be paid more than the ones who have joined at a later date.

 While you may be expected to put in four to five hours a day five days a week in certain Appen projects, other projects may restrict it to only an hour daily. However, there are generally no restrictions on working on multiple projects at a time and this can multiply your income from Appen many times over.

Even if you work an hour a day for a month at $3 per hour, you still end up earning $90 a month from one project which is a decent enough sum in proportion to the effort put in. This amount for example adds up to approximately 6700 Rs in Indian currency which is a very decent amount for an hour’s work.
