For working with Appen, you do not need to go through complicated paperwork but it does require you to first upload your updated resume on registration and then provide a proof of age document which could be your driving license, passport , or any other international ID. In the US, they may ask for your Social Security number. Indian citizens need to note that Aadhar is not an international ID and is not accepted by Appen as an identity proof. A passport or driving licence will be good enough as identity proof documents.

Also although Appen has its own qualification tests for each project, it does in most cases expect its independent contractors to have at least passed high school and in some cases may demand to see your high school passing certificate.

Also tax IDs are asked for, so Indian citizens need to keep their PAN Card in hand. You are also asked to submit your Payoneer account in which the payments will be made.

 You also need to have a bank account in which you will withdraw money from your Payoneer account. (Please note that you can only withdraw money in your Payoneer account and not deposit money in it)

You may also upload certification of any courses relevant to the ongoing projects that you may have undertaken. However please note that uploading more number of certificates does not increase your chances of getting selected as they have their own qualifications tests for the purpose.
