Appen may immediately communicate you for an assignment after you register but it may take as long as six months for them to reply back.
After six months you have an option to re-apply for the assignment.
Often they get a lot of registration for a specific assignment due to the very nature of online remote work which is highly competitive, more so than the conventional job market scenario. Hence it takes time for them to reply back.
Also, they have to review your skillset, for example, language skills for being appropriate and relevant to the assignment, and they may not mail back if they assume you to be under-qualified for the said task in question.
Opening at a specific project may also open intermittently for which they keep resumes handy and may revert back to you when they need new people on board for the job.
However, after your application is reviewed and communication is established you may still have to give an examination and undergo an unpaid training work before you are assigned paid tasks. Applicants are sometimes rejected in the training process if they are not found to be competent and this may lead to opening opportunities for the right candidates.
It is thus best to keep applying for different job profiles intermittently and reapply after six months in case of nonresponse.
